High School Sailing Pre-Season Clinic
August 18-19, 2026
NJYSF’s High School Sailing Pre-Season Clinic brought together 26 sailors from 8 high school teams for two days of focused training in late August with Coach Clay Johnson.
Open to all NJISA high school teams, the clinic provided valuable on-the-water time to help sailors prepare for the fall season. From incoming freshman and new teammates to experienced skippers and crews, sailors participated in rigging instruction, boat-handling drills, and practice races designed to strengthen fundamental skills and build confidence.
Many thanks to Raritan Bay High School Sailing Foundation for collaborating on the clinic, Toms River Yacht Club for providing its classroom space, BBYRA for keeping sailors fueled, and Dr. Nunn for preparing the NJISA FJs.
A special thank you to Clay Johnson for his continued commitment to scholastic sailing and sailor development. We greatly appreciate his time in helping high school sailors learn and improve – as well as his generous in-season discount on gear at Colie Sails for students participating on a scholastic sailing team.
